a romantic poem

Hours before I leave.
And so I’m missing you.
I come to you in the night,
While you sleep I run my fingertips over your smooth skin, gently.
I love the feel of your curves, and I smile as I tune into you, quietly.
You move and moan in your sleep, a cocoon in your warmth, slowly.
I”m where I want to be, and my nerves tingle expectantly.
We entertwine, limbs and legs locking together, rocking.
Around we go, your scent like perfume, intoxicating.
We are together, never apart, unanimously,
Soaring and diving, I’m a man possessing a woman
who is possessing a man in a circle are we
Each waiting for the other until I’m ready and so are you.
Tossing and turning and gently kissing,
And a nuzzling nuzzle inside each other.
And when we’re done, we cling and retreat
slowly and still I am kissing you gently, gently in my mind.

Whitty Women’s Quotes for Saturday

“The longest absence is less perilous to love than the terrible trials of incessant proximity.”

“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of withering, of tarnishing.”

Year 46 commences today.

Yes, that means today is my birthday. I’m happy. I am now officially OVER THE HILL. Isn’t 45 the TOP of the HILL? I think that’s right. Well, you know what they say (who?), it’s better to be OVER the hill than UNDER the hill. I agree whole heartedly.
As my birthday marks another year of my life, I thank God for allowing me to get this far. Life is fabulous and each day is a gift.

What do I hope for this year? I ask for more wisdom, increased confidence, more time to be creative, and develop myself as an artist. I hope to some new career goals accomplished, to design more projects for my business and for magazines. I even feel gutsy enough to try something that may be well beyond my reach, but NOTHING is going to deter me. All I can do is try. I want to write and read voraciously. I hope to pass that gift of passion for the arts on to my children. That way, they can share with me the things I love. I hope to be the kind of wife my husband can still be happy he married, even now, after almost 25 years. I wish to connect with him on a deeper level as the years go on. Finally, I hope to continue to come into my own as a woman and artist.
My husband is away visiting his uncle with one of my sons, and my other kids are all home today. I plan on going to Borders and spending my 40% off coupon on a book as a gift to myself. I might go to dinner with a girlfriend. Being with my friends is always enjoyable. I started a painting this morning, so I may end the evening trying to get a decent portion of that completed.

I think this is going to be a really great year.

My Artsy Day…

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Terri from Quinceberry. She’s a New Yorker and flew into Chicago to attend an opening party for the Broadway play Mary Poppin’s over at the Cadillac Theatre.
We arranged our meeting online and made a great connection! We had an absolutely delicious lunch at the Artist’s Cafe on Michigan Ave. After a nice long lunch, we headed over to the Art Institute for a quick visit. I was able to point out to Teri some of the more famous paintings and some of my favorites. The weather was great, the traffic was a peach and I had a great time making a new friend. Teri thank you for such a fabulous day. I’m so happy we met and I look forward to spending more time with you, some how, some way.

Here’s a photo of the restaurant where we had lunch. It’s just across the street and down a block from the Art Institute. I used to go to this restaurant for a quick lunch when I was going to art school at Columbia. It’s been redecorated and it’s more ‘artsy’ now. It was such an inspiring day! I think I’ll go paint a picture now….ooh, wait, it’s time for American Idol!

A painted canvas from the Taking Flight book

I belong to the Taking Flight Ning group (you can access them from my right side bar) and I completed my first canvas today. I am very pleased. The size of the canvas is 11″ X 14″.

This is supposed to be me. The affirmations are a response to some of my fears. They are positioned all over the red dress. I really love this technique of doing a patchwork background of collage papers and painting over it. Try it!
