This is a response to a “blog challenge” from the leader of 14 Secrets, Lani, who you can find here. We are to answer nine questions with art or photography. If you’d like to take part in this little bit of blogging fodder, link back and direct us to your answers. Here are my attempts at answering without words, but simply in photos.
Who Are you?
and…
What do you love about where you live?
and….
What might your perfect afternoon look like…
and…
If you had an hour alone in your creative space what would you do?
I am the owner of Bloom Art Studio in Mokena, IL. I LOVE ART! I am a middle-aged woman who vows to live each day artfully and with intention. Teaching art, walking the dog, painting, photography, reading books and writing are my favorite ways to pass the time.

Cheryl: Your photo/art essay is fabulous! You make me want to give it another round and do better! Thanks for sharing and I hope you had as much fun as I did doing this. I love learning a bit about you. And, the orange and brown vintage looking fabric… what is it you are stitching together?
Hi Carol, (it’s Emily-not Cheryl, lol..)but that isn’t me sewing that vintage brown fabric…its a photo I used to demonstrate the way in which I get my thought processes flowing…using my hands always enables me to think. Some people can think while they walk-not me. I have to use my hands to think through things and figure things out. Washing dishes by hand is also a very cathartic way for me to think things through.
Thanks for visiting and yes! I had a wonderful time doing this.
Beautifully done! I just found your very compelling website and find myself wishing to ask myself some of the same questions that you write of, and perhaps start a prayer journal. I have subscribed to your blog.
I am curious about where you found such lovely photos? Do have a collection of favorite photos, places you know where to find them on the web, favorite websites?
Hi Jan…thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy my blog. I really enjoy writing it and doing questions and activities that force me to turn inward and take a peek at myself are very fun things for me to do. I suppose we are the most interesting things to ourselves if we just give it the chance.
I usually Google pictures and if I know where they came from I’ll give photo /design credit. My daughter told me about this site: http://vi.sualize.us/ which is a really good place to find photos. Usually they are 3rd generation and the original owner isn’t known, so I suppose it’s okay to use them. I’m not selling anything with my blog photos, I just use them to illustrate my points…so it’s pretty harmless.
Thanks for your kind compliments. I hope to see you again soon!
I love this!
