I’ve taken the Christmas decorations down and have dusted and swept and rearranged things a bit. I’ve redecorated for January, pulling out my lighter colors which celebrate the heart of winter being January, my favorite winter month.
When I think of January, I think of white. White snow, white blankets, creamy flannel nightgowns, paper whites, and more. I look forward to the January issues of magazines, most displaying features with all white themes or decorating spreads. To me, whites, creams and neutrals are divine. They are beautiful and unpretentious. If I could pull it off, I’d decorate at least one room in my home in neutrals. The natural, wintery tones lift my spirit and make me feel cozy and at home.
All through the month of January, in addition to other posts I may write, I hope to celebrate each day with a photo of something creamy white. Check in daily for what hopes to be a creamy white January.
Creamy skeins of winter white
One of my favorite inexpensive ways to add a touch of color is to use yarns….even if you don’t knit or crochet, you can purchase beautiful yarns at thrift shops, wind them into balls and display them in a pretty bowl for an instant, attractive decorating element. Yarns in different shades of creams and neutrals displayed in a shallow wooden bowl would make a lovely January display of whiteness.
